A practical guide
People click. Then what?
For owners who see visitors or dashboard conversions but too few actual enquiries. Find out where the customer’s next step stops making sense — or where it stops working.
First, make sure a person can reach you.
Open the exact page your visitors land on, on a phone. Use the intended contact route with safe test details. Does the form validate, send and produce a real receipt at the destination? A button click or a thank-you screen is not proof that someone received the message. Check telephone links and any handover to another app too.
Check what your numbers actually count.
Write down the event behind each reported conversion. Is it a page visit, a click, a successfully accepted form or a later qualified enquiry? Count each separately. Duplicates, spam, consent gaps and failed delivery can all make a dashboard differ from the work arriving in your inbox.
Put the question next to the answer.
What did the person search for, click on or expect from the recommendation? Does the page answer that need, explain who the service is for and show a reasonable next step? Someone comparing options may need scope or an example before they are ready for a call. A useful answer can also let a person leave without enquiring.
Only then choose the next change.
If contact delivery is broken, repair it. If the buying question does not match the page, improve that answer or the acquisition route. If the offer or follow-up is the issue, work on that part of the journey. Where traffic is simply too limited, record the uncertainty before drawing a market conclusion.
Your next three steps
- Test the complete contact route on a phone.
- Match the reported event to actual received enquiries.
- Compare the buying question with the page and choose the first repair.
